Being an unschooling family means supporting the individual needs of your children, which can lead you to various environments and down multiple paths. For this reason, ALC Mosaic offers a co-op for families who desire engagement with other families practicing Self-Directed Education, but for whom our private school option is not a perfect fit.

Co-Op Details

Co-op Membership includes:

  • access to offerings on Self-Organized Days (Thursdays and Fridays)

  • ability to make offerings (and charge a fee or suggested donation) for them

  • ability to use campus outside of school hours for events

  • coworking access for adults and high school-aged family members

  • access to our cooperative basecamp project for additional self-organized trips and community events

  • access to the playyard Thursdays and Fridays and after ALC hours and on weekends for all children in your family with a caregiver present, as long as the presence of both caregiver and child(ren) is supportive of the playyard culture as a whole. The downstairs cospace will also be available if not otherwise reserved. The playroom (formerly Roots classroom) may or may not be available.  All cooperative families using the space are responsible for supporting clean up and tidying needs (guidelines and needs will be posted).

Below is a breakdown of fees for the cooperative membership option for any family who wishes to benefit from Cooperative Membership without enrolling children in the private school.

*Note that cooperative membership is a monthly contribution over 12 months and is shown by family size below (example: A family of 4 with an annual income of $80,000/year is suggested to pay $200/month). If a family consists of people (children or adults) who will not participate in any aspect of ALC Mosaic community life on or off campus, they may be omitted from that family’s membership agreement and financial calculation.

**Cooperative Membership is included in the price of tuition for any family enrolling at least one child in the private school. Otherwise, co-op membership is available at the pricing options below for any family who wishes to have benefits of co-operative membership without enrolling in the private school.

Similarly to the way we do tuition at ALC Mosaic, coworking memberships are determined by a trust-based sliding scale. Each person is responsible for determining which monthly membership contribution is generous and sustainable for them.

Below is a chart that will help you determine what to consider offering for your membership, based on total gross income, however we understand there are many factors beyond income that will factor into determining the right tier for each person.
